    Nuts and Bolts

    Everyone has their own family holiday traditions, and this is one of mine! My mom makes nuts and bolts every Christmas without fail. Usually twice because they get eaten up so quickly! They are the perfect salty snack to have with all that delicious baking. We always have a bowl out and refill it a million times while we all sit around chatting or playing cards. There aren’t many kids in my family right now, my cousin has a little boy, but honestly beside that for the longest time my cousin who is 22 was the youngest! Therefore our holidays usually are pretty much filled with chatting, cards, wine and eating. These snacks however are definitely child friendly! They have bugles, cheese nips, pretzels, peanuts, and just so much salty garlicy goodness! I think a lot of people make something like this for their holiday season as well but here it is my mom’s recipe for Nuts & Bolts, hopefully you give it a try and love it as much as I do!


    The Recipe

    First you will need a large roasting pan. You will melt the butter in the oven and when it is fully melted, add in all spices, mix, and stir well to coat. Bake 1.5 hours at 250°F . Stir every half hour and add more garlic salt while you’re stirring. Taste as you go for how much garlic salt you like. I say, the more, the better!! You can change the mix if you like but try and keep it similar for taste. Examples; you can use things like goldfish, cheese bites and regular pretzels too of course!




    1 lb butter
    2 tbsp worcestershire
    1 tbsp garlic powder
    1.5 tsp onion salt
    1.5 tsp celery salt
    4 cups Cherrios
    4 cups Life Cereal
    4 cup Chex
    2 bags pretzel sticks
    1 cup peanuts
    1 box Bugles
    1 box Cheese Nips
