One of the communities in the inner city that is known for being a family-oriented one is South Calgary. The community was established in the year 1914, wherein it already experienced a lot of redevelopments for residents, such as condominiums, townhomes and infills. South Calgary is in the process of improving the community by redeveloping other areas as well.

The Marda Loop is where most of the residents are going for shopping, but some of the most frequently visited establishments are Bix and Belmont, Garrison Pub, Globefish Sushi, Phil and Sebastians, Nellies and Avenue Deli.
